How To Join ATAS
Help us raise funds to support Alzheimer’s sufferers
With the permission of our artists, some artwork will be printed as posters to be given as rewards on our Kickstarter page. Spread the word and help support the ATAS Foundation.
ATAS stands for Art for the Treatment of Alzheimer’s Sufferers. Many do not like to call those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s as patients because usually a patient will receive treatment and recover. At this time there is no cure for Alzheimer’s but hopefully this will change one day.
ATAS is pronounced as the letter “A” and then “TAHS”, so “A-TAS”.
If you enjoy making art as a hobby or profession, then yes you are an artist. At ATAS we’d like to welcome all artists whether they are students or professionals.
All you need to do is sign-up here. When you sign-up, you will be asked to submit a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 5 digital copies of your artwork, as well as some information about yourself (such as your social network links) so that you and artwork will be easily accessible and visible.
- Promotion of you as an artist and your artwork on our website
- An introductory blog post about you and your artwork after a short interview
- More opportunities to network to other artists in the world
- A chance to have more exposure through our annual art fair at Kickstarter (Optional)
- Creating your account at ATAS website by submitting digital copies of your artwork as well as more information about yourself
- No membership fee at all.
- If you decided to join our annual art fair, we’d like to have your permission to sell a printed poster of your selected artwork to our backers for our one-month-long art fair
Not at all. All we ask from our artists is a digital copy of their artwork. Afterwards, we will feature the art on our website.
For our annual digital art fair, we print posters of the artwork with permission from our artists. On Kickstarter, we will give those posters as rewards to thank our backers. Please note that joining our art fair is completely optional and we’ll ask our ATAS artists beforehand.
The raised funds from our art fair will be used to support one of the most well-known art treatment programs for Alzheimer’s sufferers, called “Memories In The Making”. This program is led by several Alzheimer’s organizations in Orange County, San Diego, Los Angeles, Colorado, Wisconsin, and more.
The goal of our art fair is to raise funds to introduce this program to more communities. For example, using the supplies recommended, the average start-up cost for suppliers for 10 people is $120. The more funds that we raise from this art fair, the more art treatment programs can be initiated and continued to be supported for Alzheimer’s sufferers.
Please note we are currently applying 501c(3) status for a more transparent nonprofit operation.
Our goal through our art fair is to both raise funds and to promote our ATAS artists and their work. If you choose to participate in our art fair, you will be asked to temporarily license your copyright of your artwork so that we can print your artwork to give to our Kickstarter backers as rewards. We will only ask this for the limited time of one month (the length of our art fair).
ATAS artists do NOT share the costs of production and shipping with participating artists. Rather, we will offer participating artists a small commission per artwork print as a thank you for their participation. We are planning to print 8×10 posters for the average selling price range of $15-20.
Yes. ATAS artists will always own the copyrights to their artwork. We will only ask for your permission to print posters of your artwork to give as rewards to our Kickstarter backers and we will only ask this for the limited time of one month (the length of our art fair).
More legally speaking, we will ask you to license the copyright of your artwork to sell your artwork as a form of 8×10 prints for only over 30 days. So yes, you will still own the copyrights to your artwork over our art fair.
No. As long as you support our cause, your artwork does not have to be Alzheimer’s related, any one of your existing artwork would be perfectly fine!
While we would love to see any new artwork that you create, it is absolutely not required to create a new piece.
Of course, please feel free to start/continue selling your work during our art fair! If anything, we want to assure our artists that we will only be making prints during the mutually agreed time frame of 30 days.
